Level 1 Training sessions:
LCI’s Level 1 Training consists of a 3-day session; Thursday and Friday evenings from 6:30 pm to 10:00 pm and Saturday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, and is limited to 50 participants. The goal of the training is to assist each participant in gaining a fuller Biblical understanding of human nature and the solutions provided by the Gospel of Christ. Participants always learn much about themselves, and find new ways to understand and relate to others that encourages enthusiastic dependence upon Christ. Each person leaves the training considering specific ways to help others, including lay counseling.
Level 1 Training’s areas of focus are:
- God’s design of human nature and our brokenness as fallen sinners
- Our God-created needs and how, as sinners, we improperly seek their fulfillment
- How the gospel of Jesus Christ solves and meets the needs
- How we grow and change in dependence upon the grace of the Gospel
- The basic skills of listening and processing in order to understand ourselves and others
Outcome of Level 1 Training is two-fold:
Through feedback, we will help each participant to discern fitness for lay counseling and will help identify those gifted to continue to Level 2 to pursue becoming lay counselors. Those not chosen to go on for further training will be encouraged in other areas of ministry.
