The Glorious Mess

God created people for relationship …

The Glorious Mess (Level 1) seminar was developed to provide insight for people to better understand God’s plan for relationship with Him and others. For some people, this seminar ignites a desire to know more and to begin to dive more deeply in understanding their personal relationships – especially from the viewpoint of being a lay counselor. For others, this class offers a shift in how they begin to relate to God and to others but there is not the desire (or giftedness) to proceed beyond this point – and that’s fine!

We at LCI believe that if everyone could take this training class and then look at their lives based on the Biblical understanding of relationships that we provide, essential healing and growth can occur.

The core topics of The Glorious Mess training focus around the nature of man (as taught in the Bible), what God is up to, and how our “relational style” impacts others. While personal and counseling illustrations are used, this portion of the training is not essentially a lay counselor training program (that is what LCI provides in Level 2). Instead, The Glorious Mess addresses what we feel is critical to understand about the human condition and our wrestling with God.

The second part of the Glorious Mess is a Lab: Small Group Experience. The Lab is an experiential small group that quickly follows the Saturday seminar. It involves personal sharing and intimate exercises designed to “flesh out” the content from the seminar. This Lab is mandatory for anyone who is interested in moving onto our Level 2 Counseling training.

Many individuals who have now completed the Lab, as well as the various volunteer leaders of these groups, have found it a powerful and rich experience. This small group experience is designed to encourage us share our story, listen to others, get and give personal feedback, and learn about the group process. We highly recommend this for everyone and it is especially meaningful for those involved in paid or volunteer ministry.

“LCI was a turning point in my life. I have always had a desire to comfort those as I have been comforted, but always felt so inadequate in doing so. After attending LCI training, I came away with a deeper sense of who I am in Christ and gained so many valuable insights to give hope to the hurting. Learning what a healing community looks like has been my experience with the LCI ministry.”
